My South African Heroes

I love the country of my birth, but sadly, there are so many negative stories that flow out of South Africa – the crime rate, the terrible spiral of AIDS, the brain drain, the unemployment rate. Recently, I’ve been writing stories about my South African heroes – people who inspire and amaze me. I thought I’d gather them in one place as a reminder to myself and others that there are wonderful people in South Africa, working as hard as they can to make things better. It’s my way to focus on the positive and not let the negatives drag me down. As I write them, I’ll gather them here.

I love South Africa and the people there! Yes – it is a real shame that it receives so much negative press. Of course, it has terrible problems, but there is so much life, vibrancy, laughter, music in spite of it all.
